About Hockey Academy

My name is George Guy I am President of East District Youth Hockey and have coached winning teams at Under 14,16,18 and 21. My son David Guy, himself a successful Coach and player and I have decided to start The Hockey Academy to supply concentrated coaching to eager players.

As President of East District Youth I am well aware of the fantastic job that our Schools and Clubs do coaching young players. As a Coach, I am also aware that I would like to spend more time with players to improve their skill and work on their weaknesses. The biggest problem that our coaches have is numbers. Too many players, not enough coaches. At The Hockey Academy our ratio will be one coach to a maximum of 10 players. We have also recruited our coaches from among the most talented young players this country has ever produced. Every coach will be an International player and all will have one thing in common. We all want to repay the talented coaches that we have worked with by putting something back into the sport we all love.

Goal Keeping Clinic

Another feature of Hockey Academy is our Goal Keeping clinic, which will run, within the camp for Goalkeepers of all ages and abilities.

One of the co-founders, George Guy, is a highly respected coach but he also has the added advantage of being an International standard Goalkeeper who has also coached Goalkeeping to a very high standard and has done so for many years now from club level to district level and all the way up to international level (Scotland Keepers Alan Dick and Colin Johnston have both been coached by George). This coaching would all be within the camps and the Goalkeepers would get coaching from George and they would also be involved in game related exercises. We want to put some focus on this because there isn't a lot of Goalkeeping coaching out there for the young Goalkeepers, as it is a much specialised subject.

We would also like to take this opportunity to offer these services to schools and clubs if they would like to take the opportunity for us to come into school or come along to a club session or however many you would want to work with your goalkeepers on a more one to one basis or even all the goalkeepers in your school at once depending on what you want from the service, the cost for this is to be discussed with ourselves and the schools depending on how many sessions and how long the sessions would be.
